Christmas for Kids

Regal Chair and Christmas trees

The City of Dunwoody Police Department brings the Dunwoody community together to collect new and unwrapped gifts for deserving Dunwoody children from Newborn to age 15 years old.

2025 Update

We are thrilled to report that we exceeded our goal and identified over 52 Dunwoody and DeKalb County children in need this year. Officers, staff, and volunteers hosted a private, magical “Polar Express” experience, complete with Santa and his Helpers, for our registered children and their families just before Christmas!

History of Christmas For Kids

The Dunwoody Police Department Christmas for Kids (CFK) program began in 2009 with the goal of bringing our community together to provide Dunwoody’s under-privileged children, between the ages of Newborn to 15 years old, a little bit of Christmas “magic” during the holiday season.

The CFK season begins with a Registration process for Dunwoody families. Once we identify the number of qualified children we plan to host that year, our toy and gift sponsorship process begins, with help from our community.

Once toy collections are complete, the department hosts a “Wrap-Up” event, where our community gathers to help wrap toys and gifts for each individually sponsored CFK registered child.

Dunwoody officers and staff then work together with I Care America, Inc. to host a private event, exclusively for CFK registered children and their families. Children are able to interact with Santa and his Helpers as they collect their personalized bag of toys/gifts. Each registered family goes home with a boxed Christmas dinner to enjoy, courtesy of I Care America, Inc.

Christmas for Kids is a community effort and is only made possible by the generosity of our citizens, businesses, and other local organizations.
