Peer Support Team
The Peer Support Program provides confidential peer support to all departmental employees facing personal or professional challenges. An integral part of the Peer Support Team is our Public Safety Assistance Canine (PSAC). The primary objective of the PSAC is to provide Police personnel with access to a canine who is specially trained in crisis intervention, post-critical incident processes, and responding to post-traumatic stress incidents. It is essential to note that this canine and handler do not respond to active scenes for PSAC duties.
In addition to crisis response, the PSAC contributes to day-to-day support by attending Patrol shift Roll Calls and interacting with various departmental units. This proactive approach aims to foster a decrease in overall stress levels among Dunwoody Police Department employees.
