Current activities: 

(July 2026) - Project team and staff are finalizing the schematic design of the park. Schematic design is the early plan for a park project, showing proposed amenities, trails, parking, landscaping, drainage, and how people will use the space. It allows the City to review the concept, identify any concerns early, and confirm the project’s scope and budget before detailed construction plans are prepared.

Parks staff is also reviewing playground concepts, to be approved soon with the help of the community steering committee. 

(May 2026) - Construction Manager At-Risk contract awarded. 

(April 2026) Design Professional Services and Program Management Services contracts awarded. 

Project details:
In June 2021, the Dunwoody City Council unanimously approved the financing needed to close on the  purchase of two residential parcels on Vermack Road for a future park. The combined size of the parcels, located at 4809 and 4819 Vermack Road, is 9.29 acres and currently includes an open field and a wooded area.

The Master Plan for Homecoming Park includes the following features: 

• ADA/Sensory playground (12,000 sq. ft.) 
• Sand volleyball courts
• 2 gazebos
• Open play field
• Wildflower meadow
• Restrooms
• Solar Panels
