Open House & Virtual Feedback

The City of Dunwoody held a Georgetown Small Area Plan Open House on Wednesday, January 21, at the N. Shallowford Annex to gather community input on future development, mobility, and placemaking in the Georgetown area. Residents reviewed existing conditions, findings, and recommendations, and provided feedback through interactive activities. A virtual feedback form was also provided. It closed on Jan. 30.

Project Details

The City of Dunwoody’s Community Development Department has partnered with TSW and Kimley-Horn—two Atlanta-based planning and engineering firms—to prepare a Small Area Plan for Dunwoody’s Georgetown area. In Dunwoody, Georgetown is the area bordered by Chamblee Dunwoody Road to the west, Cotillion Drive to the south, Peachford Road to the east, and Brook Run Park to the north. It includes N. Shallowford Road and Dunwoody Park.

The plan will provide a clear, actionable framework to guide future development, enhance mobility—whether by foot, bike, transit, or car—and strengthen placemaking throughout the Georgetown community. Its vision is to create a more attractive, connected community with a strong sense of identity.

The plan focuses on the following:

  • Future land use: establishing clear guidance for future development and zoning updates
  • Mobility: supporting safe and convenient travel by foot, bike, transit, or car
  • Placemaking: creating a more attractive, connected place with a strong sense of identity

The Georgetown Small Area Plan translates the broad vision of Dunwoody’s recently adopted comprehensive plan, Direction Dunwoody, into a clear and actionable framework for the future of the Georgetown area. As part of this process, the project team will host a community open house to share key findings from the existing conditions analysis, proposed improvements, and draft future development guidance.
