Dunwoody Parks and Recreation has been actively working to make recreational opportunities more inclusive, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Therapeutic Recreation (TR) is intended to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, whether physical or intellectual. Our TR programs are designed to increase independence and improve quality of life through recreation and leisure. Find registration information for the programs below using this link.
Adaptive Movie Nights
Movie night experiences are tailored to accommodate specific needs, often for individuals with sensory sensitivities or mobility limitations. The movie night is free. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. Please feel free to bring a blanket, chair, or yoga mat to sit on. We do have chairs, but the floor is tile.
Adaptive Soccer Program
Our 6-week adaptive soccer program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of soccer in a supportive and inclusive environment. Whether participants are new to soccer or have experience, this program focuses on skill activities and drills that will be modified to meet individual needs, ensuring everyone has the chance to succeed and enjoy the sport while adapting to various needs and abilities. This program is offered through Unique Individual Ranch (UI Ranch).
Adaptive Teen/Young Adult Social Events
UI Ranch has partnered with the City of Dunwoody to offer adaptive programs for adults and children. These programs are designed to provide inclusive, supportive, and engaging recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
- Adaptive Dance Night and Pizza Party
- Adaptive Parents Night Out: Activities include games, movies, crafts, free play, and more. Dinner is provided.
- Adaptive Bingo Night and Chicken Nugget Dinner
Special Pops Tennis
Special Pops Tennis strives to teach tennis to individuals with intellectual disorders. Athletes will learn all 7 tennis strokes, engage in match play, and participate in fun group games. Volunteers are needed to feed shots, pick up balls, and accompany athletes throughout practice. This program is offered FREE of charge.

Special Olympics Georgia
Dunwoody Parks and Recreation also supports Special Olympics Georgia by providing access to competition venues at Brook Run Park's multi-use fields and Georgetown Park's bocce courts.
