Medical, Dental, Vision, and FSA
We know that keeping you and your family healthy is a top priority, and we make it our priority too. The City has excellent healthcare coverage that gives you access to a large network of providers and saves you money.
- Medical: The City offers a robust Cigna medical plan, with the City covering 100% of employee premiums and up to 95% of dependent coverage. In-network benefits include:
- $500 individual deductible and $850 individual out-of-pocket max
- $25 co-pay for primary care visit and $50 co-pay for specialist visits (with reduced co-pays for designated providers)
- Preventative care covered at 100% for you and your dependents
- Dental: Two Cigna dental plans to choose from to suit your family’s needs. The City covers 100% of employee premiums and 50% of dependent premiums for either plan you select, so you can choose the plan that works best for you.
- Vision: A comprehensive Cigna vision plan utilizing the EyeMed network with low employee premiums.
- Flexible Spending: Want to save some money? The City offers a health FSA and dependent care FSA through Medcom, which allow employees to set aside pre-tax contributions to pay for eligible expenses.
Retirement Plans
There’s no time like the present to start saving for the future. Let us help! The City of Dunwoody offers three retirement plans to help you prepare for your future.
- A City-funded 401(a) plan with a substantial contribution equivalent to 11% of the employee’s annual earnings. Employees can receive up to a 15% contribution by taking advantage of the 457(b) match.
- A City-funded Social Security Replacement plan with an employer contribution of 6.2%.
- A voluntary 457(b) plan allowing tax-deferred savings with employee chosen direction of their contributions into a variety of strong investment options. This plan offers a generous employer match of 4% into your 401(a) plan.
In addition to the retirement savings plans, the City also offers free monthly educational seminars on financial topics for all employees and complimentary financial planning services for eligible employees.

Group Life and Disability
Life happens. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! The City of Dunwoody pays for Group Life and AD&D for all full-time employees at a rate of 3x their annual earnings. Short-term and Long-term Disability coverage is also fully funded by the City.
Supplemental Benefits

- The City offers Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity plans designed to protect you and your family from life’s unexpected emergencies.
- Long Term Care insurance for employees and spouses is available through Transamerica.
- Voluntary Employee Life, Spouse Life, and Child Life insurance is available with low rates and guaranteed issue for new hires.
Paid Time Off
The City of Dunwoody is committed to supporting employee well-being and work-life balance. Our paid time off policies allow employees the flexibility to take time off when needed.
- Holidays: Regular full-time employees enjoy up to fourteen (14) paid holidays and one Personal Floating Holiday per year.
- Vacation and Sick Time: Regular full-time employees begin employment with five (5) days of vacation time and continue to accrue vacation and sick time annually. Vacation accrual rates increase with tenure.
- Comp Time: Employees may be eligible to choose to accrue comp time off for overtime hours worked.
Additional Benefits
We care about what’s important to you. Whether you’re interested in going back to school, working out, or taking care of your mental health, we offer a variety of additional benefits and perks so that there’s something for everyone. Some highlights include:
- All full-time employees are eligible for Education Assistance. The annual allowance is $3,000 for an associate or bachelor's degree and $4,000 for a master’s degree.
- The City provides an extensive Employee Assistance Program, with separate, dedicated coverage for civilians and public safety employees.
- All City employees have a free fitness center membership. Eligible Police Department employees also have free membership to an additional fitness center.
- The City offers a housing reimbursement of up to $800/month for sworn Police Department employees living within Dunwoody city limits.
- The City provides a wellness program offering free events and wellness programming throughout the year, such as health screenings, flu shots, healthy lunches, social events, educational resources and more!
