Updates:
April 2026: Google Fiber will begin work in Dunwoody Station and on Ridgeview Road and Layfield Drive.
Overview:
Google Fiber will begin its construction phase in April 2026, placing the fiber conduits in the ground for their network facilities (mainline underground conduit, handhole boxes, service drops, etc.). Eventually, they will run under and through most streets in the City.
If you have any questions or concerns about the process, call 877-454-6959, Option #3. A live Google Fiber representative will be available 24/7, and your issue will be logged and tracked for a response.
Google Fiber Georgia LLC has a franchise agreement for the installation of network facilities in the City of Dunwoody's right of way (ROW). Google Fiber is an internet service provider that provides high-speed, high bandwidth internet.
The agreement includes the following commitments by Google:
- Repair any damage caused by its work
- Relocate any of its facilities if necessary for a city project
- Provide insurance and performance bonds
Right of way (ROW) allows local and state governments to construct and maintain roads and sidewalks to facilitate pedestrian and vehicular movement. ROWs are also used by the utility companies (Gas, Electric, Water, Sewer, Cable, Fiber Optic etc.), to install and maintain utilities.
Google Fiber strives to make construction safe, quick, and minimally disruptive to neighbors and businesses. Residents should receive a Google Fiber door hanger on your front door letting you know we are working in your area at least 3 days prior to construction start. Crews will also mark important construction zones with temporary spray paint and flags to ensure that we are working in the right areas and that we know about existing infrastructure (e.g. power, gas, water, etc.).
