Dunwoody, GA – September 2, 2026 - Dunwoody Parks and Recreation invites the community to its first-ever Park(ing) Day on Friday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Williamsburg at Dunwoody shopping center, located at 2458 Jett Ferry Road.

For one day, 12 parking spaces will be transformed into a lively pop-up park designed for residents and visitors to relax, play, and connect. The free event will feature arts and crafts, make-your-own flower bouquets, yard games for all ages, and complimentary ice cream.

“This is an opportunity to bring people together in an unexpected setting,” said Dunwoody Parks and Recreation Director Rachel Waldron. “We’ll have a wall made out of murals and other surprises, so we hope everyone will stop by.”

Park(ing) Day started in San Francisco in 2005 and became a movement modeled in communities across the globe. This year, it’s being celebrated in thousands of places, like Dunwoody, on September 18.

The goal of Park(ing) Day is to temporarily repurpose parking spots and convert them into parks to advocate for safer, greener public spaces. Neighbors are encouraged to see familiar surroundings in a new light.
