In addition, the City of Dunwoody was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2024 Annual Comprehensive Finance Report (ACFR), an honor it has received from GFOA every year since becoming a city.

The excellence designation for Dunwoody’s annual comprehensive financial report is considered the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Awards are designed to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.

“These awards reflect Dunwoody’s commitment to being a responsible steward of public funds,” said City Manager Eric Linton. “Residents deserve clear, transparent information about how their city plans, budgets, and reports, and this recognition shows we continue to meet that standard.”

According to GFOA, the comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to assess the financial health of the participating government and to ensure the “spirit of transparency and full disclosure.”

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award was granted for successful adherence to nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. GFOA gave Dunwoody special recognition for Strategic Goals and Strategies since all reviewers gave the highest possible scores in this category. The 2026 report can be found using this link.

“This recognition is a credit to the hard work and expertise of our finance team,” said Finance Director Richard Platto. “We are committed to producing documents that not only meet national standards but also help residents and city leaders clearly understand Dunwoody’s financial position and priorities.”
