Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will extend warming center hours through Tuesday, February 3, 2026:

Sunday, Feb. 1 - 8:45 a.m.
An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect for all of North and Central Georgia until 1 p.m. this afternoon. Dangerously cold wind chills ranging from -15 to 5 degrees are expected. Wind gusts up to 30 mph remain possible through noon today, but are expected to trend down during the afternoon and evening. For areas with snow on the ground, some melting may occur today but temperatures will drop back below freezing tonight. Untreated roads may remain slick and snow covered through Monday. There is an increased risk for pipe bursts with the extended period of sub-freezing temperatures.
Saturday, Jan. 31 - 6:30 p.m.
An Extreme Cold Warning remains in place through Sunday morning. Dangerously cold wind chills in the -15 to 5 degree range will occur, increasing the risk of cold related illnesses. Wind gusts in the 25 to 40 mph range will continue through Sunday morning. Untreated roadways may become icy. Very cold temperatures and an extended period of (40 to 60 hours) of subfreezing will increase the risk of pipe bursts through Monday Morning. Georgia Power reports outages in Dunwoody North.
DeKalb Fire crews responded to a fire a 2448 Dunwoody Crossing. There are no injuries reported but many residents are displaced. The American Red Cross will assist and keep them protected from the elements.
Saturday, Jan 31 - 12:30 p.m.
The flurries have continued. However, the snow is not sticking to the ground. Roads are clear and no weather emergencies have been reported. According to the National Weather Service, we're seeing northwest winds around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight, temperatures will dip to a low around 14 with chill values as low as -1.
Saturday, Jan. 31 - 8 a.m.
Some snow flurries spotted but no issues in Dunwoody currently. The forecast continues to call for snow showers, mainly before noon, with a high near 29 and northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible.
Friday, Jan. 30 - 5:15 p.m.
The National National Weather Service now predicts 2 to 4 inches of snow are possible on Saturday, starting as early as 4 a.m. Please stay home and off the roads. Even fluffy snow can stick and freeze, creating icy conditions. Dunwoody crews are treating the busiest roads with brine to keep them open for public safety responders. A winter storm warning is in effect from Jan. 31 at 1 a.m. until 1 a.m. on Feb. 1. An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect from Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Feb. 1. Gusty winds are also expected. Drip your faucets and open cabinets to keep pipes from freezing.

The DHA Farmers Market will be closed on Saturday due to the possibility of snow.

Around noon today, Dunwoody crews will begin treating the busiest roads with brine, a special saltwater solution, to keep them open for public safety once winter weather moves in.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Dunwoody from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. on January 31. According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected and could stick to roads and other surfaces due to temperatures in the 20s. Gusty winds are also expected.
