Dunwoody, GA – August 21, 2025 – At approximately 3:00am on August 21st, 2025, Dunwoody Police responded to Perimeter Mall in reference to a burglary in progress at Request Boutique. The offenders used a sledgehammer to enter the mall and the boutique. The offenders took an unknown quantity and dollar amount of luxury handbags and left the store. As they exited the mall, they found an unoccupied mall security vehicle, stole it and began to leave the mall. Officers arrived on scene and the offenders fled when they saw police. A vehicle pursuit began on Perimeter Center West and went across the street where the vehicle pulled into 66 Perimeter Center East. Officers confronted the suspects, and the vehicle intentionally drove at the officers. The officers discharged their firearms into the vehicle and it continued to flee onto Perimeter Center East. Moments later, the vehicle crashed, and the driver fled on foot. Two other occupants of the vehicle got out and fled before the crash and sometime after the shots were fired.
A perimeter was set up and a search for the suspects was initiated. Dekalb County Police Helicopter, K-9 units, officers on the ground and our Drone First Responder were initially used to try and locate the suspects. Around 8:30am, a male subject was seen at 70 Perimeter Center East coming out of the wood line and bleeding by an officer. Officers responded and detained the male who had single gunshot wound to his lower abdominal region. He was provided medical treatment by Dunwoody Police, Dekalb Fire and AMR. then transported to North Fulton Hospital for treatment. He is alert, conscious and in stable condition. The other two suspects involved have not been located.
Three Dunwoody police officers were involved in the shooting, and all have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure. None of them were injured during this incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was notified and responded to the scene to investigate the officer involved shooting. An internal investigation by Dunwoody Police will also be conducted.
