Incident: Traffic Crash/Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle with Injuries
Location: Mount Vernon Rd at Dunwoody Village Pkwy Dunwoody, Ga 30338

(Update: July 9, 2025)  The investigation into the crash at the annual the 4th of July parade has concluded. It resulted in the two drivers who switched places being charged with Reckless Driving and Serious Injury by Vehicle. The drivers were Ruby Liversidge, a 22-year-old from Decatur, and Finn Drummond, a 23-year-old from Alpharetta.

Drummond was driving the vehicle just before the crash took place. He and Liversidge decided to switch drivers. They left the vehicle in drive and moving while they made the switch. When Liversidge got into the driver’s seat, she mistakenly hit the accelerator causing the F-150 to lunge forward and strike a 22-year-old female walking in front of the vehicle. She was knocked to the ground and injured, but not severely. Simultaneously, the trailer disconnected from the truck causing the occupants of the trailer to strike the side railings which resulted in several injuries. The trailer chains were not connected to the truck when officers arrived, and the hitch pin was never found.

Several children received injuries including one with a broken orbital socket and one child with numerous stitches from a cut on their forehead. The remainder received minor injuries or had other complaints. In total, four adults and four children were injured in this crash. The 22-year-old was the only one outside the trailer who was struck by the F-150. The remainder of the victims were in the trailer, and everyone involved was a part of the same group.

After speaking with numerous witnesses, the drivers and the victims; it was determined there was sufficient probable cause to charge Finn Drummond with Reckless Driving and Ruby Liversidge with Serious Injury by Vehicle and Reckless Driving. They were initially allowed to go home in the early stages of the investigation due to the uncertainty of injuries, a lack of probable cause for charges at the time and numerous involved parties who still needed to be interviewed for a complete investigation. They were later notified of the warrants for their arrests and were told to turn themselves in at Dekalb County Jail by the morning of July 7th. They complied and turned themselves in around 8:30am on July 7th, 2025.

During the parade, an F150 Lightning w/ a trailer and pedestrian were involved in a crash. The drivers of the vehicle paused to switch drivers and continued in the parade. During the switch, the new driver mistakenly hit the accelerator which caused the vehicle to lunge forward. The vehicle struck a pedestrian, knocking her to the ground. When the driver hit the brakes, the trailer disconnected from the truck and caused several people on the trailer to fall off. Several children and an adult were injured. No one is in critical condition, and most were transported to local hospitals.

We are still actively investigating the crash and have no other information to release at this time.
