Dunwoody Village Parkway Improvements
In March 2011, the City of Dunwoody adopted a Master Plan for the Dunwoody Village area. This plan will guide future land use, transportation, and open space investments in this area with the goal of making Dunwoody Village a more vibrant, sustainable, and economically viable area while maintaining its existing quaintness, charm, and link to our history.
After months of thoughtful planning, the City is excited to move toward implementation. Our first implementation project is improving the pedestrian and cycling environment of the Dunwoody Village Parkway. We are beginning with this project for two reasons – first, we heard from members of the community that improving the pedestrian and cycling environment in the Dunwoody Village area was a top priority. Secondly, the City has secured a Transportation Enhancements Grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation to fund this project.
The Dunwoody Village Master Plan establishes a vision for Dunwoody Village Parkway that reduces the number of vehicular travel lanes to one lane in each direction to allow for on-street bicycle lanes; wide sidewalks; and landscape buffers between the vehicular travel lanes and sidewalks to include street trees, pedestrian lighting, and roadway lighting.
On March 31, 2011, the City held an open house to gather feedback regarding these improvements and shared preliminary concept plans for the street. These documents are available for review and download at the following links:
