• What does Public Works do?

  Public Works is the entity that keeps Dunwoody’s roads, signs and signals in shape.

  ·         We fill pot holes, repave roadways, and repaint traffic lane lines

  ·         We install and replace signs that are faded or damaged

  ·         We replace burned out bulbs and correct signal timing issues to keep traffic flowing smoothly

  ·         We install traffic calming measures such as speed humps that slow traffic

  ·         We install sidewalks, crosswalks and bike lanes to encourage walking and biking

• How do I request repair of street sign/traffic signal/pot hole?

  Call our office at 678-382-6850, e-mail jada.drysdale@dunwoodyga.gov or send an online service request. Please provide as much information as you can about the location with either exact addresses or nearest cross street. The more information you are able to give us, the more likely it is that we can locate the issue and correct it in a timely manner. 

• How long does it take to complete a service request?

  The goal of the Public Works Dept. is to complete all essential maintenance requests within 30 days. We prioritize work orders based on the date of the request and the importance of the request to public safety. In cases of unusual weather, a backlog of work orders may develop as our regular work crews will respond to emergency needs.

• How do I find out if/when my street will be repaved?

  Dunwoody has completed a pavement condition assessment of all the roads within the city. A written summary and maps of this assessment can be found on this page. Funding for road maintenance and resurfacing can vary from year to year so it is difficult to project beyond the current year. In general, the city plans to resurface the worst quality roads according to the assessment first. Click here for the city’s current draft of the 5-year resurfacing plan.  

• Where can I find information on Dunwoody’s Parks/Park Programs?

  Dunwoody has not started providing park services due to ongoing negotiations with DeKalb County to transfer the county’s park properties located within the city limits. The city anticipates that park services will begin sometime in 2010.
  

• What is the process for requesting traffic calming on my street?

  You will need to submit an Initial Interest Form; please contact us at (678) 382-6850 or e-mail jada.drysdale@dunwoodyga.gov, we will get you the form and explain the process to you.

• How do I report that a street light is out?

  Call our office at 678-382-6850, e-mail jada.drysdale@dunwoodyga.gov or send an online service request to our department with the specific address and we will report it to Georgia Power for you. Usually, it is repaired within 3-5 business days, weather permitting.

• The City street tree at my home needs to be trimmed. What do I do?

  Call our office at 678-382-6850, e-mail jada.drysdale@dunwoodyga.gov or send an online service request to our department. We’ll send someone out to look at it and we’ll determine if the tree is located on the public right of way

• I have a problem with sewage on my property. What do I do?

  Contact DeKalb County Water and Sewer at 770-621-7200 to report the problem.

• I found a manhole lid off, what should I do?

  Please contact our office immediately at 678-382-6850 with a specific location.

• What do I do if the storm drain on my street is clogged?

  Call our office at 678-382-6850, e-mail jada.drysdale@dunwoodyga.gov or send an online service request to report it. If the clogged drain is causing flooding, contact our office immediately and we’ll send our emergency crew out to repair it.
