Ken Wright was elected as the first Mayor for the City of Dunwoody in September 2008.
Wright is an “almost” Atlanta native who grew up in the Fulton County portion of Dunwoody in the Branches neighborhood, graduated from North Springs High School and the University of Georgia with a degree in political science, minor in Criminal Justice.
As a businessman, Ken Wright has been in the healthcare field his entire career. He began as a salesman for a manufacturer of anesthesia and respiratory devices and equipment, moving to the healthcare software side in 1997. More recently, as an entrepreneur, Wright founded his first company, K2 Healthcare Information Technologies in 1998, merged with NetLearning Inc in 2000, and subsequently sold to Thomson Delmar Learning in 2004. Wright is currently founder and CEO of eHealthcareIT and in 2009 was named one of Atlanta’s “Top 40 under 40” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
As a community volunteer, Wright served on the executive board of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association in 2001 and 2002 before leading as president in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
In 2006, after a very brief rest and retirement from the volunteer executive offices of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, Wright was asked to become Chairman and President of Citizens for Dunwoody, a 501c3 organization tasked with researching all areas of the incorporation of the community of Dunwoody.
In 2008, after a three year legislative struggle and by all measures herculean barriers, Citizens For Dunwoody was able to secure for the residents of Dunwoody a July 2008 vote on incorporation. Over 81% of the voting citizens elected to incorporate Dunwoody and thus form a City of Dunwoody.
Wright is a member of the Dunwoody Rotary club and worships at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Terri, have been married for 12 years. Ken & Terri have 2 children; one at Austin elementary school and one at the new Dunwoody elementary school.
