Michael G. Davis
Mayor, City of Dunwoody, Georgia
For the past 25 years Dunwoody Mayor Michael Davis and his family have called Dunwoody home. While he was born and raised in the northeast, he has adapted well to the South and is extremely proud of his five-year-old City. He was elected Mayor by the residents of Dunwoody in 2011 and ran on a platform of creating and running small, efficient and responsible local government. Based on more than thirty years of experience leading and managing businesses from Fortune 500 firms to start ups, Mayor Davis promotes a strong foundation of city governance and a balanced approach to growth and development.
His previous experience in the business world includes his role of President of My Georgia Doctor, Inc., a position he relinquished in order to run for Mayor of Dunwoody. In addition he was a sales executive at Vulcan Performance Chemical and has more than 25 years of sales/management experience in the chemical industry.
Mike has been married to his wife Mary Pat Davis for more than 22 years and is the father of four girls, two daughters and two step daughters, all of whom are graduates of St Jude and St. Pius. He is also the grandfather of 4. He has served as president of both the Mill Glen Swim and Tennis Club and the St. Jude Men’s Club. His political experience includes serving on the Board of Dunwoody Yes, and serving as the campaign manager for Denis Shortal (Dunwoody City Council) and Tom Taylor (State Representative).
Mike has always been an active community participant and volunteer serving on the Board of Directors at Murphey Candler Girls Softball Association. Over the years he has coached 19 girls softball and basketball teams. He is a sports enthusiast and was an ALTA tennis coordinator and team captain and has run the Peachtree road race 17 times. In his downtime, Mike enjoys cooking and has won many Chili Cook offs in the Metro Atlanta area. He is an avid golfer, tennis player and gardener.
